North Shore 2, Isle of Iona - Original.
The Isle of Iona is just a short ferry trip from Fionnphort Isle of Mull, the boat is often busy with passengers making their pilgrimage to the historic Iona Abbey, founded in 563.
The tiny island is encircled by clear turquoise waters and white sandy beaches, a beauty that drew Scottish artists like Francis Cadell and Samuel Peploe of the Scottish Colourist movement in the 1930s, and continues to inspire me today.
On the north beach, I spent hours exploring, sketching, and taking photographs. The view across the shining water to the rugged mountains of Mull is breathtaking. Scattered along the white sand lie jagged, patterned rocks resting quietly amid the white sand. It’s a place where history, nature, and art seem to meet in perfect balance.
